- 1 cup unsalted butter (brown until nutty)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup pecans (chopped)
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, brown the butter until nutty, approximately 5-7 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, and flour, then add warm browned butter.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract and salt until smooth.
- Fold in chopped pecans and pour the mixture into the prepared dish.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until set but slightly soft in the center.
- Allow to cool before slicing.
Notes
- If you prefer a sweeter square, increase the brown sugar.
- Can be served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
