Description

A delicious homemade pepperoni pizza with a crispy crust and melted cheese.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese
  • 25 slices pepperoni
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh basil leaves (garnish)
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 to 1 teaspoons red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm water and sugar, then sprinkle in yeast and knead dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 to 1 hours.
  2. In a small saucepan, warm honey with red pepper flakes for 5 minutes over low heat. Add vinegar if desired. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Preheat oven to 500°F with a pizza stone or cast iron skillet inside for at least 30 minutes.
  4. On a floured surface, shape dough into a round. Transfer to a floured peel, parchment, or oiled skillet.
  5. Spread pizza sauce, top with mozzarella, then layer with pepperoni. Brush crust with olive oil.
  6. Bake for 8–12 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.
  7. Drizzle hot honey over the baked pizza, garnish with basil, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • To achieve a crispier crust, make sure to preheat the pizza stone or skillet thoroughly.
  • Feel free to adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your spice preference.
