- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Chocolate Base: In a heatproof bowl, melt the butter and dark chocolate together over a pot of simmering water, stirring until smooth. Allow it to cool slightly. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until the mixture is light and fluffy. Gradually fold the melted chocolate mixture into the egg and sugar mixture until well combined.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Prepare Peanut Butter Filling: In a medium bowl, mix the creamy peanut butter, powdered sugar, and extra vanilla extract until smooth.
- Assemble the Brownies: Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Carefully spoon the peanut butter mixture over the brownie layer, spreading it evenly. Pour the remaining brownie batter over the peanut butter layer, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
