- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz dark chocolate, chopped
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- Chocolate shavings for garnish

Prepare the Cake Batter:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the flour mixture. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Stir in boiling water (the batter will be thin).

Bake the Cakes:
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow cakes to cool for 10 minutes in the pans, then remove from pans to finish cooling on a wire rack.

Prepare the Chocolate Ganache:
- Heat the heavy cream in a saucepan until it begins to simmer.
- Pour over chopped dark chocolate. Let it sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
- Allow the ganache to cool until it thickens slightly.

Assemble the Cake:
- Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of ganache over it.
- Add a layer of sliced strawberries.
- Place the second cake layer on top.
- Pour the remaining ganache over the top, allowing it to drip down the sides.

Garnish:
- Decorate with more sliced strawberries and sprinkle with chocolate shavings.
Notes
- For more strawberry flavor, add a layer of strawberry preserves between the cake layers.
- Ensure the cake is completely cool before adding the ganache to prevent it from melting off.
