Description

A delicious homemade blackberry sauce that is perfect for topping desserts or enjoying as a spread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups blackberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. Add the blackberries, sugar, lemon juice and water to a pot, stir and bring to the boil.
  2. Allow it to boil for about 5 minutes, stirring often to stop it from scorching.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer and bubble for 10 minutes. It will thicken further as it cools.
  4. Serve warm or allow to cool and store in a sterilised jar in the fridge for up to 5 days (or freeze for up to 2 months).

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
  • For a thicker sauce, mash the blackberries slightly while cooking.
