Description

A delicious layered flan white cake that combines a creamy flan with a light and fluffy white cake.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for caramel)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • Whipped cream for topping
  • Fresh fruits (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Make the Caramel:
    1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar until it turns golden brown.
    2. Quickly pour the caramel into a greased rectangular cake pan, tilting to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the Flan:
    1. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs.
    2. Add the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
    3. Pour the flan mixture over the hardened caramel in the cake pan.
  3. Prepare the White Cake:
    1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    2. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
    3. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
    5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
    6. Gently pour the cake batter over the flan mixture in the pan.
  4. Bake:
    1. Place the cake pan in a larger baking dish filled with about 1 inch of hot water (bain-marie method).
    2. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean.
    3. Remove from oven and let it cool in the pan on a wire rack.
  5. Assemble the Cake:
    1. Once cooled, invert the cake onto a large serving platter.
    2. Spread a layer of whipped cream on top and around the sides.
    3. Decorate with mini flans on top, evenly spaced, and optionally add fresh fruits.

Notes

  • Make sure the caramel is fully set before pouring in the flan mixture to avoid mixing.
  • Ensure the cake cools completely before inverting to maintain its shape.
  • For an extra flavor boost, you can add a hint of lemon zest to the cake batter.
  • Decorate with seasonal fruits for added color and taste.
