Description

A delicious pastry filled with savory beef and cheese, perfect for a hearty meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) beef, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup (100g) shredded cheese (Cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare:

    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Thaw the puff pastry according to package instructions.
  2. Cook the Filling:

    • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Sauté onions and garlic until soft and translucent.
    • Add beef slices, bell pepper, salt, pepper, and paprika.
    • Cook until the beef is browned and fully cooked. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Assemble the Pastry:

    • Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface.
    • Place the beef mixture in the center, leaving edges clear.
    • Sprinkle shredded cheese over the beef mixture.
  4. Seal and Egg Wash:

    • Fold the edges of the pastry over the filling, sealing the edges.
    • Beat the egg and brush over the top of the pastry for a golden finish.
  5. Bake:

    • Transfer the pastry to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden and flaky.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add herbs like thyme or rosemary to the beef mixture.
  • Experiment with different cheeses for varied taste.
  • Make sure the filling is cool before placing it on the pastry to prevent sogginess.
  • Serve with a side salad or dipping sauce for a complete meal.
